DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL! The hotel is located at a busy intersection, and the windows are so thin that it felt like we were sleeping on the street. Also, there were plenty of huge mosquitoes! We were bitten so many times and had to suffer through the pain for the rest of the trip. Additionally, there were stains on the sofa! We booked two nights but only stayed for one night and left. They refused to refund the night of our sleepless stay. Worst customer service ever!

The hotel is very conveniently located. The MTR entrance are steps away from the hotel entrance, The Ximending market is just across the street. The location is quiet, safe and festive. There were so much lights and banners during the Lunar New Year. I had a room right next to the elevator, hallway was small, old wornout carpet or floor cover needs some changing. It was just too obvious since I did not have my room made everyday, but housekeeping made sure I get my 2 bottled water and plastic bags for the trash( they were left at the doorstep.) The room was clean and updated. Breakfast was okay, i would have preferred to have regular scrambled eggs (they only have boiled eggs everyday), sausage or maybe just oatmeal and yogurt. They served noodles, soup, with occasional cantaloupes, watermelon, oranges, which I enjoyed on the few days they have them. They use disposables, paper plates, plastic spoons/forks which are sorted after by very efficient staff I presumed they for recycling. Overall, I felt safe and room was great for me with great location.

Green World Hotel is the worst hotel I've stayed at in the past five years. The walls are so old, you can hear conversations at normal volumes and TVs from the next room, and the pipe system is even older, so we always heard running water flow through the pipes whenever someone above us used them... and there were many floors above us. Don't stay here with a baby or small children, pleeeaaase. The elevators took forever. They are old and small, and there are only two of them for 15 floors. It wouldn't be so bad if reception were on the ground floor, but reception AND the breakfast hall were on the 13th floor, so there was always, always someone coming and going to the 13th floor. Waiting for the elevator took ages, which is stressful after a long day out, or if you have to catch a train. Also, it's small, so with suitcases, like two people can fit inside, lol. Expect long lines and panicked rushing. (It's a 15-minute walk to the train station with suitcases, but we budgeted 45 minutes and arrived at the HSR with a bit of time to spare. ) The breakfast was mediocre, we ended up skipping it the last couple of days. The staff is really nice and welcoming, but there is no order in the buffet area. People shoved past left and right, but no one really reinforced lines or cared. Stressful when crowded. Like getting grape juice was a stressful experience, and drinking it was even more stressful because it tasted like Kool-Aid. The amenities were dubious, like the hairdryer has seen better days and I always had the feeling it was going to explode in my hands. The temperature control was awful/non-existent. Either air conditioning was freezing (you can't adjust it), or you just turned it off and risked the heat. There was no in between. After a long flight and exhaustion, and combined with a poor ventilation system, I'm surprised none of us came down with a fever. The lights were... functional but an eyesore. There are like four light switches with lights of varying brilliance, which really triggered my migraines. Like one light is close to white, the other is orangey, the other is yellow... it's an attack on the senses. The main lights over the bed, especially, are like reading lights on an airplane, which was not a great feeling. On the plus side, it does have everything you need, and the smart toilet is nice. The water pressure in the shower was good, and the location in Ximending is ideal. Complimentary water every day. I think if you're young, low maintenance, can sleep through anything, and are on a budget, this might be a clear 3 to 3.5 stars. But if you're a little older, a light sleeper, and sensitive to poor ventilation and temperature control (definitely do NOT recommend for people prone to migraines), look for something else.

I do not understand all the negativity on Tripadvisor about this hotel, mostly written by Westerners, I think if you pay for a 3 star hotel, you should not expect a 4 star! I liked the room, all staff was very efficient, the breakfast was Asian breakfast, that is not my thing, most guests were Asians, I heard Thai, Indonesian etc... It is about 1 km from the subway, next time I will choose an hotel that is nearby the subway.

Location: Very good. Right outside is exit 6 of Ximen station. Cross the Road and you are at the ximen shopping district. Room: Spacious enough for us. Most rooms in Taipei are pretty small. Bed is quite hard, it is a double room so they combined 2 single bed. Abit dusty and old looking. Hairdryer works for 20 seconds each time. There is a TV and a TV set with lots of channels to watch, including HBO etc. Breakfast: It was mostly Taiwanese style. Every day, there will be hot porridge, noodles, some vegetables, braised pork rice (I couldnt take the taste. It had a very strong pork smell which I didnt smell it from those selling outside), eggs (different forms every day), some breads, cereal and fruits. Good enough for me but it was a miss for my husband. Take note that hotel lobby is at Level 13. We stayed at Level 3. In between the floors housed guests from Just Sleep. So waiting for the lift during peak periods might be take a while as there are only 2 lifts. They provide shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the hotel toilets itself but not in those bottles. If you need any toiletries, they are in disposable forms on level 13 lobby. Overall, not to bad with the price you pay except that the bed was really not v comfortable and it gave me backaches and as we are on lower floor, the traffic noise gets to us at times.
